ECOTOPIA 2004 The Netherlands;

As the summer gets closer, more and more mysterious activities are taking place around a castle in between two rivers in the Netherlands.... Whats's happening? Come and find out!

Ecotopia is a two week festifal of sustainable alternatives, celebrated and shared by youth from all over Europe. Last year hunderds of young people gathered in the Ukraine. This year the 14th edition will take place in the Netherlands, at the nature reserve Gandelwaard, near the historic Castle Loevestein.

Ecotopia is not just another 'holliday' camp. It is a place for learning and taking action, working together and having lots of fun. Ecotoia is also a functional model of a self-sustainable community that puts into practice the principles of an environmentally friendly life-style: waste resycling, vegatarian organic kitchen, consensus dession-making, the use of alternative energy...

This year's focus is on "water and bread". We will be looking at different perspectives on our basic needs, from issues of agriculture and watermanagement to fair trade, politics and the enlarged EU.

Five Dutch youth organisations, together with the EYFA-network invite YOU to join us at Ecotopia 2004, from 9th to 23rd of August.
